The drive leads to our large car park, directly in front of the villa. During the summer, the trees and shrubs surrounding the car parking area offer welcome shade. It's just a short walk from the car park to the main entrance. The main photograph shows the rear of the property, with gardens and pool. The Studio apartment adjoins the villa and is shown on the left hand side in the photogrpah. |
| Around and about... |
There are many small parks throughout the village. For those interested in walks there are numerous possibilities. Several suggestions with maps can be obtained from the local tourist office in Montady. There are events and special dinner dances held throughout the year. The village is famous for it's health giving water sources, with no fewer than ten sources. It is of course a spa town, and the thermal baths have been popular since the 17th century. Now you can enjoy being pampered in one of the many spa rooms |
| Further afield ... |
The Languedoc-Roussillon region extends from the border with Spain, along the Mediterranean to Nimes and beyond. A land of many influences and a fascinating past, Languedoc-Roussillon has a superb architectural heritage covering over 2000 years of history. The soil is rich and the culture a blend of many civilisations with an excellent cuisine that is equally adventurous. Montpellier is the principal city of the region, with the seat of local government housed in an impressive new building. The city has the right mix of old and new. The old city contrasts with the new shopping centres of the Triangle and Polygone. The centre, Place de la Comedie, is a favourite with everyone. The city is also well known for the outstanding new architecture of the Antigone (photo below left), which reaches from the Place de Opéra - Comédie to the Regional building by the river. Lac du Salagou, about 50 kms, is a very popular destination for many people with different interest. The lake is man made. The site of an old volcano, around 750 hectares, was filled with 130 million cubic metres of water to provide a super leisure attraction. The circumference of the lake is about 28 km, and there is plenty of space for picnics, swimming, windsurfing, mountain bike trails and spectacular walks. |
