Montels - a beautiful round silky wine |

Clos Montels is a three
hectare vineyard situated close to Pézenas.
Two hectares are located on the Caux hillsides, the
other between Roujan and Neffies. The vineyard owner
Hélène Mir (shown in the photo right),
produces a beautiful round silky wine, with rich,
ripe red fruit flavours that she calls Les Montels.
When you are in the Pézenas area you can try
the wine at many of the local restaurants or you can
buy bottles at some of the local wine shops, for example,

The vineyards that
produce the wines of Faugères and Saint Chinian,
like all of the Coteaux du Languedoc, go back to
Roman times. Most of the vines are grown in rocky
stony soil, and produce a red wine that is the perfect
accompaniment for meats and game.
Most of the caves have people who are quite happy
to spend time with visitors and to explain their
craft and their life producing some of the best
red wine in the world. |
